Morning, Emma. How was your weekend? Did you get up to anything fun?
Emma00:05
I did, actually. I tried a pottery class on Saturday. My sister talked me into it.
Alex00:11
Oh, really? What was it like? I've only seen people do that in videos.
Emma00:17
A lot messier than I expected. There was clay on my shirt within about five minutes.
Alex00:23
That sounds like fun, though. Did you actually make something you can use?
Emma00:28
Well, I tried to make a coffee mug. It ended up looking more like a little bowl.
Alex00:33
A bowl still counts. You could keep your keys in it, or something.
Emma00:39
That's what my sister said! Hers was almost perfect, which was a little annoying.
Alex00:44
Has she done it before, or is she just annoyingly good at everything?
Emma00:49
She took a class in college. She didn't mention that until we got there.
Alex00:54
Okay, so she had a head start. Have you ever tried anything like that before?
Emma01:00
Not really. I usually just go for a walk or watch a movie on the weekend.
Alex01:05
Same here. I've been thinking about trying something new, but I never get around to it.
Emma01:12
Honestly, booking a class helped. Once I'd paid for it, I knew I would actually go.
Alex01:18
Fair point. Was it a big group? I'd feel awkward being the only beginner.
Emma01:24
There were eight of us, and most people were new. The teacher was really patient.8
Alex01:30
That sounds reassuring. Did they show you what to do, step by step?
Emma01:35
Yeah. She showed us first, then came around to help. Nobody expected us to be good.
Alex01:42
I like the sound of that. How long was the class?
Emma01:45
About two hours. I barely looked at my phone, which was probably the best part.2
Alex01:53
That sounds like a nice break. I spent half of Sunday answering emails.
Emma01:58
Oh, no. You need a weekend activity with muddy hands. No typing allowed.
Alex02:05
You might be right. Can you send me the name of the place?
Emma02:09
Sure. They have an evening class, too, if Saturday doesn't work for you.
Alex02:15
Saturday should work. Do you get to take your bowl home right away?
Emma02:20
Not yet. They need to fire it first. I can pick it up in a few weeks.
Alex02:25
You'll have to show me when it's ready. I'm already invested in this little bowl.
Emma02:31
Deal. And if you take the class, I want to see your first masterpiece, too.
